Lass (Trainer class)

A Lass (Japanese: ミニスカート Miniskirt) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Generation I games. They are depicted as average young girls in clothing resembling school uniforms. Lasses appear to be the female counterparts of Youngsters, and they grow up to be Beauties.[1]

They use a variety of Pokémon but tend to use cuter and/or common Pokémon such as Pidgey, Nidoran♀, Zigzagoon, etc. In the Battle Maison of Generation VI, they specialize in Normal- and Fairy-type Pokémon. In the Battle Tower in Generation VIII, they specialize in Grass- and Fairy-type Pokémon.

In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Lasses will award three Poké Balls along with prize money upon being defeated, except Gym Trainers and Master Trainers.

Giselle, a Lass in the anime

Main series

A Lass briefly appeared in the theme song Aim to Be a Pokémon Master and its English counterpart Pokémon Theme. She wears an orange blouse with a red ribbon and a green miniskirt, and Pikachu runs under her.

The character of Giselle, who appeared in The School of Hard Knocks, seems to be loosely based on the Lass design.

In Getting Down to The Ire!, a Lass observed the Manalo Conference alongside a Youngster and a Roggenrola.

Pokémon Origins

A Lass briefly appeared in File 1: Red, being one of the Trainers residing at the Pewter Gym. Later, in File 3: Giovanni, Red was briefly seen battling another Lass with his Charmeleon.

Wigglytuff was used by the Lass whom Red battled his Charmeleon.

Pokémon Masters Animated Trailer
A Lass in the Pokémon Masters Animated Trailer

A Lass appeared in the Pokémon Masters Animated Trailer, where she, Erika, and a Beauty battled Scottie, Brock, and Rosa in a forest. Her group initially had the upper hand until Scottie's Pikachu used Thunder on their Pokémon, defeating them.

In the Japanese credits of the short, the Lass is credited as ミニスカートの女 (Minskirt Girl) rather than simply ミニスカート (Miniskirt).

Whimsicott
Whimsicott is the Lass's only known Pokémon. Alongside Erika's Vileplume and a Beauty's Lotad, it battled Scottie's Pikachu, Brock's Onix, and Rosa's Snivy. It used Leech Seed on Onix, ensnaring it, but Snivy managed to free Onix with Leaf Storm. Whimsicott and its teammates were then defeated by Pikachu's Thunder.

Whimsicott's only known move is Leech Seed.

A trio of Lasses appeared in Buddy, where they were watching a Firebreather put on a show with his Charmander. They then found Hop's lost Wooloo, finding it adorable and taking photos of it on their cell phones. However, their actions scared it off.

Two Lasses appeared in The Gathering of Stars, where they were having lunch at a café with Bea.

A Lass briefly appeared in The Plan. She was shown in Accumula Town, holding her Oshawott as she listened to Ghetsis's speech about the liberation of Pokémon. Two more Lasses appeared in The Discovery. They were seen on Nugget Bridge with their Golduck and Persian, challenging Green who defeated them with ease.

In the manga
Platinum chapter

A Lass and her Pachirisu briefly appeared in Deprogramming Porygon-Z, where they were waiting in line along with the other Trainers for the opening of the Battle Frontier.

HeartGold & SoulSilver chapter

In Out-Odding Oddish, Gold accidentally bumped into a Lass with her Wigglytuff while racing to get to the Pokéathlon Dome. Later in the same chapter, a Lass and her Meowth were seen entering the Pokéathlon Dome.

In Weavile Wobbles But It Won't Fall Down, a Lass was seen amongst the many people visiting the Safari Zone.

Black & White chapter

A Lass along with her Audino was one of the Trainers that was listening to Ghetsis's speech in An Odd Speech.

X & Y chapter

A Lass appeared in Kangaskhan...Kangascan't, walking together with a female Ace Trainer in Santalune City.
