Brawly's Makuhita uses Fighting Sync Impact as its sync move. Upon evolution, Hariyama learns the upgraded Arm Thrust of Mighty Waves.

Brawly's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Makuhita is Brawly's signature Pokémon during his Gym battle against the player in the core series games, while Hariyama serves the same role during the rematches against him in Pokémon Emerald and during the Pokémon World Tournament in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Makuhita and Hariyama's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
