vanha markka
Finnish
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈʋɑnhɑ mɑrkːɑ/, [ˈʋɑnhɑ mɑrkːɑ]
Usage notes
Literally "old mark", a common term used to refer to the currency of Finland (Finnish mark, markka or Suomen markka) as it was before the monetary reform of 1961, which dropped two zeros from the denominations. Thus 100 old marks were equal in value to 1 new mark (nykymarkka). The official name of the currency did not change. Abbreviated vmk.
