From Old Albanian goglie[1]. Further etymology disputed. Maybe from Proto-Albanian *gougula (“mouth”), from *gau (“speak, emit a sound”) + *gula (“throat”), from *gʷl-, zero-grade of Proto-Indo-European *gʷel- (“throat”).
