Jahangiri Swati

Jahangeri Swati (جہانگیری سواتی) is sub-branch of Swati tribe. They are the descendants of Sultan Jahangeer(Sultan of Pakhli Sarkar). According to Hazara Gazetteer-1883 Jahangeris own the 1 out of 9 parts of Upper Pakhli (now District Mansehra).[1]

According to family traditions, Sultan Jahangeer, Sultan Arghush and Sultan Aznal were three brothers. In a recent research ,It is found that Jahangeris and Arghushals share same DNA haplogroup of R-FT297783[2].

The last Sultan of Swat, Sultan Awais Swati[3] was also a Jahangeeri[3]. Sultan Awais was married to Shahida Bibi who was the sister of Yousafzai Sardar Malak Ahmed Khan. Olif Caroe wrote in his book 'The Pathans' that It was a political marriage between Yousafzais and Swatis to capture Swat Kingdom(Pakhli Sarkar).
