From Proto-Albanian *prasa, from Proto-Indo-European *pr̥so-, possibly of non-Indo-European origin. Cognate with Ancient Greek πράσον (práson), Latin porrum, or perhaps borrowed from Ancient Greek.[1] Variants porr and purri are probably from Latin.
