From Malay maklumat, from Classical Malay معلومات (ma'lumat), from Arabic معلومات (maʿlūmāt), plural of مَعْلُوم (maʿlūm, “known”), passive participle of عَلِمَ (ʿalima, “to know”).[1] Doublet of maklum.
