From English discount, alteration of French descompte, décompte, from Old French disconter, desconter (“reckon off, account back, discount”), from Medieval Latin discomputō (“I deduct, discount”), from Latin dis- (“away”) + computō (“I reckon, count”). Modelled after Spanish descuento.
