Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *bardzmā, derived from *bardza>bardhë "white", with a typical semantic pattern for the nomination of bark and bast. Compare Slavic *lyko "bast" from Proto-Indo-European *lewk- (“light, shine”)[1]
