Etymology

Borrowed from Persian تهران (tehrân). Ahmad Kasravi believed the word "Tehran" is derived from an Indo-European language and originally meant "the Hot Place" ("teh" meaning "hot", and "rān" meaning "place"). (Karvand Kasravi, page 273).
