Coaching career
Johnson began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Villanova Wildcats men's basketball before joining the National Basketball Association. In 2014, Johnson joined the Philadelphia 76ers as a video coordinator before being promoted to Director of Player Development and Coaching Administration.[1] After four years with the 76ers, Johnson was named the head coach of the Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA G League affiliate of the 76ers.[2] In his first two seasons, Johnson compiled a 43–50 record with his second season being cancelled due to the suspension of the 2019–20 NBA season. However, in Johnson's final season, he led the Blue Coats to G League Finals appearance, losing 97–78 to the Lakeland Magic in the shortened 2020-21 NBA G League season. After three seasons with the Blue Coats, the Oklahoma City Thunder named Johnson as an assistant coach for program development for the 2021-22 NBA season.
