1978–79 County Championship

The 1978–79 County Championship was the 37th season of the Liga IV, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The champions of each county association play against one from a neighboring county in a play-off to gain promotion to Divizia C.

  1. The match was interrupted in the 88th minute. Gloria Berevoești left the field when the referee awarded a penalty kick to the home team, and the FRF commission set that the promoted team should be Vitrometan Mediaș.[3]
  2. Celuloza Piatra Neamț won on the away goals rule.
  3. Petrolul Târgoviște won on the away goals rule.
  4. Simared Baia Mare won on the away goals rule.
  5. FEPA 74 Bârlad was excluded by the FRF for irregularities in championship.
