Information
The Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition is a 25-card set that celebrates 25 years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in Japan. It includes a selection of reprints that appealed to both collectors and players in their respective Era, featuring popular Original Era cards, promotional cards that required high numbers of redemption points in various schemes, and cards that influenced strategic trends. Each card retains the layout of their original print with minor alterations to accommodate the collection symbol and number in the bottom left. All cards have a Confetti Holofoil background illustration and border, a red and gold "25th" graphic, and etching. These cards formed the basis of the Classic Collection subset of the Celebrations expansion outside Asia.
In Japan and South Korea, cards in this set were distributed in promo packs which contained 1 card in each pack and could not be purchased individually. A single pack was given to customers at participating stores for every four 25th Anniversary Collection packs purchased. Packs were also included in concurrent items of merchandise.
In Thailand, 2 different promo packs were distributed. The first promo pack - which shares the same design as Japanese and Korean packs - were given to customers who bought more than ฿300 worth of Pokémon Trading Card Game merchandise from participating stores, and contained a card of any kind except Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise and _____'s Pikachu. The second promo pack - with gold borders instead of red - were given to participants of the 25th Year Pokémon TCG Exhibition, and included either Charizard, Venusaur or Blastoise from the set. _____'s Pikachu couldn't be pulled from either packs, and was instead given out to customers who purchased one Star Birth booster box from selected retailers.
In Indonesia, the promo packs were available on December 15, 2021. A promo pack were given to the customers who bought 4 Booster Packs or 1 Starter Deck on Indomaret, while 4 promo packs were given to the customers who bought 1 Box Booster Pack of 25th Anniversary Collection on certain hobby stores in Indonesia. The promo packs were also given as one of the prizes to the winners who participate at "Koleksi Pokémonku" (My Pokémon Collection) challenge from December 15, 2021 to February 2022.
Traditional Chinese copies of this set were not distributed in promo packs, but through each card's respective promotional event or merchandise. In Hong Kong, _____'s Pikachu was originally released through a shoot and share photo event, but the event was called off after a week due to unexpected crowd, and the remaining copies were offered instead as participation prizes of the upcoming 25th Anniversary Challenge Tournament. Distribution schedules of other tournament prizes were also altered to adapt this change.
