Black & White print

Search your deck for a basic Energy card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Sword & Shield print

Search your deck for a basic Energy card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.

You may play any number of Item cards during your turn.

e-Reader data

The Expedition Base Set and Theater Limited VS Pack prints include a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and have the card ID A-28-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.

Release information

This card was included in the Fossil expansion with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi. It was reprinted in the Expedition Base Set, first released in the Pokémon-e Starter Deck, with new artwork by Kai Ishikawa and an updated effect. This print was used throughout the EX Series, and the first part of the Diamond & Pearl Series, up until the release of Majestic Dawn. The Majestic Dawn print, first released in the Magmortar vs Electivire Deck Kit, featured new artwork by Ryo Ueda.

During the Black & White Series, Energy Search was included as an Item card in the Black & White expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Battle Strength Decks. It was reprinted again in the Boundaries Crossed expansion, and in the Japanese Battle Gift Set: Thundurus vs Tornadus and the Keldeo Battle Strength Deck.

Energy Search was reprinted with new artwork by Studio Bora Inc. during the Sword & Shield Series. It was included in the Sword & Shield expansion, first released in each of the Japanese V Starter Sets. In Japan, it was reprinted in the Fire Incineroar V Deck and the Start Deck 100 (available in both Non Holofoil and Mirror Holofoil versions).

Trivia

Even though the Expedition Base Set print reworded the card text slightly by adding a new clause, no reference was required when using the Fossil print of the card.
