Collection Challenge

A Collection Challenge (Japanese: コレクションチャレンジ Collection Challenge) is a list of Pokémon to catch assigned to the player in Pokémon GO that has a specific time period during which it may be completed. Similar to Timed Research sets, Collection Challenges are accessed through the "Today" tab of the Research view and does not include dialogue with Professor Willow. Completing a Collection Challenge earns a point for the Elite Collector medal.

Special Conditions

Under normal circumstances, the player just need to catch a specific Pokémon in order to validate its Collection Challenge entry, but some collections require special actions to be performed in order to validate some entries. Those conditions can be identified by a marker icon next to the Pokémon sprite.

Marker	Condition
	Trainer must catch this Pokémon wearing a costume during a specific event.
	Trainer must acquire this Pokémon by evolving from an earlier form.
	Trainer must acquire this Pokémon by trading with another trainer.
	Trainer must catch this Shadow Pokémon after defeating a Team GO Rocket Grunt.

Unova Collection Challenge is a Collection Challenge that was added to the game on January 4, 2021. This collection could be completed from January 5, 2021, at 10 a.m. local time to January 10, 2021, at 8 p.m. local time.

GO Tour Kanto

A series of Collection Challenges that were introduced during the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticketed event on February 20, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time. These collections were exclusive to ticket holders for the event. Those collections were inspired by the first 150 Pokémon found in Pokémon Red & Blue. Those collections could be completed from February 20, 2021, 9 a.m. local time to February 27, 2021, 10 p.m. local time.
