How do you level (or tram) your build surface correctly?
There are numerous topics found on first layers that do not adhere properly causing prints to fail or cause print quality defects.
The advice is often to properly level or tram the build surface. How does one tram the build surface?

Uneven mesh after perfect auto tramming?
BLTouch enabled Ender 3 w/4.2.2 board running mriscoc's Professional firmware.
How is it that the auto tramming can report the corners of the bed to be level, and then immediately afterwards it produces this mesh?
What am I missing?
