zò
Sicilian
Etymology
From Late Latin ecce hoc, from ecce (“behold, voilà”) + hoc (“this”). Compare Italian ciò. The Sicilian pronunciation of Vulgar Latin /kk/ before a front vowel changed to a geminated voiceless alveolar sibilant affricate [t̚t͡s]; cfr. Sicilian fazzu (“I do”).
