Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish یورك (yürek), from Proto-Turkic *yürek, *yür- (“heart; courage”).
Maybe related to Proto-Mongolic *jirüken (“heart”), whence Mongolian зүрх (zürx) and Daur jurgw. Cognate with Azerbaijani ürək, Turkmen ýürek, Old Turkic [script needed] (yürek), Ladino yurek.
