telek
Hungarian
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [ˈtɛlɛk]
- Hyphenation: te‧lek
Etymology 1
The etymology is disputed. It has been derived in at least three ways:
- From the same Proto-Finno-Ugric root as the verb telik (“to fill”).[1]
- From tel (“ground, soil”) + -k (noun suffix). For the same suffix, compare lélek (“soul”).[2]
- From Oghur *tilök 'separated (area)', from Proto-Turkic *til (“cut”), via Old Hungarian telük.[3]

telek (plural telkek)
