Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *säic'en, from Proto-Uralic *ćäjćemä (*śäjćemä). Cognate with Estonian seitse (“seven”), Erzya сисем (sisem, “seven”). The original nominative form (seitsen) has been largely displaced by the genitive form, probably by analogy with kahdeksan and yhdeksän.
