pitrava

Maltese

Etymology

Probably from Old Occitan; compare Catalan bleda-rave, dialectally also betarrave. Also cognate with French betterave (which is considered the direct etymon in some sources, but that would be unusual).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /pɪtˈraː.va/

Noun

pitrava f (plural pitravi)

  1. beet, beetroot
