From Late Latin pentarchia, from Ancient Greek πενταρχία (pentarkhía), from πεντα- (penta-, penta-: five) + -αρχία (-arkhía, -archy: rule), perhaps via Middle French pentarchie. Equivalent to pent- + -archy.
