From Ottoman Turkish معروضات‎ (maruzat), plural of معروض‎ (maruz), from Arabic مَعْرُوض‎‎ (maʿrūḍ), passive participle of عَرَضَ‎ (ʿaraḍa, “to appear, happen, show”). Formally the Arabic plural of maruz.
