From Proto-Finnic *kakku, borrowed crom Proto-Norse *ᚲᚨᚲᛟ (*kakō, cake); compare Swedish kaka. Cognate to Finnish kakku and Votic kakku, kakko. Possibly a newer loan from Old Swedish or Swedish.
