From Latin iūdaeus, from Ancient Greek Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos), from Hebrew יהודי (Yehudi). Compare Occitan josieu.
Usage notes
- According to the Diccionari Català-Valencià-Balear, this form of "jueu" doesn't seem to have existed outside of of the Rosselló region and in some Troubador-esque texts. It is regarded as an “Occitanism”.
