Latin impetratio: compare French impétration.

Noun

impetration (countable and uncountable, plural impetrations)

  1. (obsolete) The act of impetrating, or obtaining by petition or entreaty.
    • Barrow
      In way of impertation procuring the removal or allevation of our crosses.
  2. (obsolete, Britain, law) The obtaining of benefice from Rome by solicitation, which benefice belonged to the disposal of the king or other lay patron of the realm.
