Etymology
Back-formation from haránték, harántos (“thwart”), two obsolete adjectives, themselves from Proto-Uralic *kurɜ (“curved, skewed, crooked; make curved, skewed, crooked”). Created during the Hungarian language reform which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.[1][2]
