From Proto-Albanian *sada or *seda, deverbative of Proto-Indo-European *sed- ‘to sit’ (compare English sit, Greek έδραι (édrai) ‘seat’, Romanian ședea). Çabej connects it to Proto-Indo-European *gʷṓws (“cattle”).[1]
