Etymology
From Middle Low German vororsaken and German verursachen, equivalent of för- + orsaka (“to cause”). Cognate with Danish forårsage, Norwegian Bokmål forårsake, Norwegian Nynorsk forårsake, forårsaka and Dutch veroorzaken.[1]
