  1. (psychiatry) (psychiatry) Exhibiting one of the four subtypes of avoidant personality disorder as defined by Lynn E. Alden and Martha J. Capreol in 1993. Characterised by an inability to express anger towards others or to resist coercion from others. May be at risk for abuse by others.
