burmak

Turkish

Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish بورمق (burmaḳ, to twist or screw, to wring, to strangle, to castrate, for the bowels to gripe)[1][2], from Proto-Turkic *bür- or *bur- (to twist, to wring). Possibly evolved from the form Proto-Turkic *bügür-, which was derived from Proto-Turkic *bük- (intransitive; to be squeezed, to be strangled)[3].
