From Proto-Albanian *brustula, from Proto-Indo-European *brust- (compare Old Saxon brustian (“to sprout”), Russian брость (brostʹ, “buds (of a shrub)”).[1]. Alternatively from Serbo-Croatian bljušt.[2]
