Etymology
From Vietnamese Đà Nẵng, from Vietnamese 沱灢 (Chinese 沱灢), from Cham Da Nak, from da nak (“opening of the river”). Named after the mouth of the Han River on the coast of the South China Sea, in Central Vietnam, formerly in Champa.
