-lar

1. Used to form plurals of nouns.

   ‎kurbağa + ‎-lar → ‎kurbağalar

   Bu ülkede daima Mustafa'lar olacak. ― There will always be people like Mustafa in this country.

   Amcalarım bize gelecek. ― My uncle and his family will come to us.

• It's used when the noun's last vowel is a back vowel.
• When the noun's last vowel is a front vowel, -ler is used instead.

From Old Turkic [script needed] (-lar), of uncertain origin, but thought to be of Common Turkic origin that was absent from Proto-Turkic, as it is not found in the sister Oghur branch (namely Chuvash).
