-erizo

Spanish

Etymology

From Old Spanish -arizo (still found in some cases), from Latin -āricius. The shift from /a/ to /e/ is probably by analogy with the related -ero, and the stressed /i/ (for expected */e/) by analogy with -izo.

Suffix

-erizo (feminine -eriza, masculine plural -erizos, feminine plural -erizas)
