History
The University of Pereslavl was opened on November 26, 1992 on the initiative of Academician Yevgeny Velikhov and Professor Alfred Ailamazyan, who became the first rector (1992-2003). The second rector of the educational institution (2003-2017) is Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences S. M. Abramov. Over the 25 years of its existence, the educational institution has trained more than 900 graduates (bachelors, specialists, masters).
The existence of the university is inextricably linked with the Research Institute of Program Systems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPS RAS), opened in Pereslavl in 1984 on the initiative of Academician E. P. Velikhov, first as a branch of the Institute of Cybernetics Problems of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and since 1985 - in its current status of an academic institution.
At the university, training was conducted in three areas - applied mathematics and informatics, information systems and technologies, applied informatics in economics.
On the basis of the university, a center for training and retraining of programmers was opened (2013).
In 2017, due to financial difficulties, the university stopped its educational activities and the state license was not renewed. Since 2018, university students have continued their education in the form of distance education at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation with a degree in Applied Informatics
