Concept and creation

The character of Trafalgar D. Water Law was created by manga artist Eiichiro Oda, the author of the manga series One Piece, and he made his first appearance in its 498th chapter.[9]

Powers and abilities

Devil Fruit

Law ate the Ope Ope no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit which allows him to create a sphere of light blue aura, inside which he can manipulate the fabric of space. He can manifest this aura sphere over a very wide area; however, he cannot move the sphere once he's conjured it, he would instead have to dismiss the sphere and create a new one in a different location. Furthermore, Law has to concentrate in order to maintain and use his power, and unlike most Devil Fruit powers, Law's powers directly take a toll on his stamina.[10] Law has achieved Devil Fruit awakening, allowing him to conjure a variety of special room spheres that are applied directly to specific objects instead of a designated area, meaning those rooms move alongside whatever they are currently covering. With K-Room, Law can adhere a miniature room to his weapons, which then gain the ability to extend as far as he desires, harmlessly bypass anything solid and directly operate on the insides of whatever they may phase through. With R-Room, Law is able to create and throw a room on a particular object and dictate a specific effect to take place in it, like erasing any sound made by the object in question. This directly addresses one of the fruit's biggest weaknesses, which is the stationary nature of its regular field of range. By Law's own admission, he has not fully mastered his awakened powers and using them takes a serious toll on his stamina.[11]

Haki

He is proficient in both Armament[12] and Observation Haki.[13]
