Thomas Vos
Thomas Vos (born December 7, 2007) [1] is the second Dutch-American son of Alexandra Pelosi and Michiel Vos. He was named after Alexandra's grandfather Thomas D'Alesandro Jr.[2] Thomas became known in Greenwich Village for running T.J.’s lemonade stand, [3][4] raising thousands of dollars for the victims of Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and the California Wildfires 2018.[5] The San Francisco Chronicle wrote “Public service runs in the family.”[6] When he was 9 years old, Thomas was quoted in Politico telling a crowd of reporters on Capitol Hill that Paul Ryan did not have the votes to repeal The Affordable Care Act. “It’s not going to pass. He doesn’t have the votes!” [7]
Thomas is seen throughout the HBO documentary Pelosi in the House.[8] On January 6, 2021, Thomas was inside the United States Capitol with his grandmother, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi during the January 6 United States Capitol attack.[9] In The New York Times interview, Alexandra Pelosi says, "I brought my kids; I thought it was a good civics lesson for them." People Magazine shows Thomas has "made several appearances alongside their grandmother at a number of political events and major milestones throughout her career. She invites the family to everything - every State of the Union, every time she gets sworn in." [10]
Thomas appears in many of his mother's documentaries [11] including Outside the Bubble: A Roadtrip with Alexandra Pelosi [12]. In Words That Built America[13] he recites the Eleventh Amendment to the United States Constitution. Thomas is seen helping his father prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test in the HBO film Citizen USA (which was based on his father's journey to become an American Citizen).[14]
Thomas often appears in his father's television programs.[15] including the Dutch/Belgian TV series My America.[16]
