Silvia Turani

Silvia Turani ( born 6 July 1995 Grumello del Monte ) is an Italian rugby union player. She plays as prop for Exeter Chiefs, and for the Italy women's national rugby union team.

Career

Silvia Turani came to rugby relatively late: she discovered it, in fact, as a student in Cordoba, Spain, where she was an exchange student from the University of Parma as part of the Erasmus Programme.[1]

In 2016, she joined Colorno, the closest club to her university headquarters. She played in the 2016-17 championship.  She made her debut in the senior national team in Biella against France, taking over for Melissa Bettoni in the second half.[2]

In November 2019, she was the first Italian called up to the Barbarian F.C. on the occasion of a match at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff against Wales.[3]

in the 2020–21 season, she joined the Grenoble Amazones,[4] with her university attendance at the Grenoble School of management. She was called up to the 2021 Rugby World Cup. She competed at the 2023 Women's Six Nations Championship.[5]

She signed a contract with the English club Exeter, as of the 2022–23 season.[6][7]
