Sasika Herath

Sasika Herath (born January 29, 1985, as සසික හේරත්), is a Movie director in Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television.[1]

Professional Career

Herath's professional career began in 2008, when he started working as an assistant director in both TV and film industries. He also worked as a camera operator occasionally. From 2008 to 2020, he served as an assistant director in various TV dramas, including "Akuru tharaha na", "Samanalunta enna kiyanna[2]" and "Flying bullets", to name a few. He also worked as an assistant director in the documentary film "Kalu gaga dige" directed by Jackson Anthony.

Filmography

As an assistant director, Herath has worked on various productions such as "Mayaa Ruu" TV series directed by Anuruddha Jayasinghe,[3] "One Way" teledrama directed by Lalith Rathnayake,[4] and "Thathte Api Awa" teledrama directed by Jayalath Manorathne, among others. In 2018, he assisted director Anuruddha Jayasinghe on the movie "Eka Dawasaka Api," which was released to big screens in Sri Lanka.

Herath is currently working on two upcoming films as an assistant director, "Maa," directed by Anuruddha Jayasinghe and "Game," directed by Buddi Sanjaya.

Herath's feature debut film, "Sihina Sameekarana'' AKA ''Dream Equations," is a cinematic portrait of the life of a young boy exposed violently to the urbanization. The film stars talented actors and actresses such as Sajitha Anththara, Ashan Dias, Kasuni Kavindi Fernando, Rebecca Dilrukshi, Randika Gunathilaka and Moreen Charuni. The film is an example of Herath's unique storytelling abilities and has received positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike and is set to be released in June 2023.[5][6][7][8]
