Nitin Bathi

Nitin Bathi (born 17 July 1986) is an Indian-born international cricket umpire based in Netherlands.[1] He stood in his first One Day International (ODI) match, on 19 May 2021, between Netherlands and the Scotland, when Scotland toured to the Netherlands.[2] On 15 October 2021, he stood in his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match, between Denmark and Italy in 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.[3]

He umpired in his first Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) match, between Netherlands and Bangladesh in 2019.[4] He umpired his first Women's One Day International (WODI) match in 2022, in between Netherlands women and Ireland women.[5]

Personal life

Nitin's wife Namrata Nataraj is working with a travel agency. Both are based at Eindhoven. His parents, Revanasiddappa and Vijaya, are in Bangalore.[6]

Early career

He started his cricket career as a Wicket-keeper for United Cricketers in Davanagere. Then he cleared the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) state panel examination in 2006 and the BCCI level-1 panel test in 2009.[6] He is an electronics engineer by profession.[6]

In 2017, he moved to Netherlands and got a job in Intel.[6] Later he joined the KNCB's national panel of match officials and was elevated to the ICC Development Panel of Umpires that year after two Dutch officials in the panel retired in 2020.[7]

In 2021, he was named by the ICC to stand in matches in the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.[8][9]
