Mayolee

Michael Oluwole (born March 21, 1987, in Lagos Nigeria) is a music producer, songwriter, singer, music mentor and multi instrumentalist popularly known as Mayolee, who became known after producing the gospel record "Way Maker" by Sinach, which was released on May 30, 2015.[1][2][3][4] He also produced "He did it again" by Sinach, "Jesus (You Are Able)," "Cheta," "Word Is Working" by Ada Ehi; "Joy Overflow" by Joe Praize.[5] His recent album "Awolowo" is a musical body of work covering jazz, afrobeats, Hiphop, afrobeat and lofi.[6]

Early Childhood

He was born into the Kashimawo Anthony Oluwole family, raised in a very musical church Celestial Church of Christ where he was taught how to play the drums and percussions. From there, he became a child performer at the National Theatre Lagos, Nigeria. At age 5 he was awarded scholarship into the Nigerian Airforce Primary School Ikeja (NAF) after he helped the school to win a music competition as a drummer boy.[7] When he entered high school, he became a drummer in a major church in Lagos Nigeria where he learnt to play the piano. Shortly after that he majored as a pianist and began to perform with bands some of which were the Lightyears Quartet, Groovy Jazz, Like minds Quintet, Salvador Sango, Bongos Ikwue, etc. He started teaching music in Three Face Music School at 19 until he was 23. He was also a music director for major churches and eventually became a music producer in 2007.[8] Mayolee produced the gospel "Way Maker"written by Sinach in 2015.[9]

Career

Formerly known as Mayo MuziQ and now popularly known as Mayolee, started his career as a jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist, teacher, music producer, audio engineer and musical artiste from childhood after he was nominated for number of music concerts. Following the production of Cheta, Joy Overflow and Way Maker in 2015, he got notable achievements and recognitions in the wake of his songs and several other collaborations. In 2017, he performed at the Loveworld Music & Arts Festival in South Africa.[10] He has also produced major hit songs for artistes like Ada Ehi, Joe Praize etc. In 2022, he produced the song and album, Make a Difference and Awolowo respectively. In 2019, he founded Alter Centre. He was recognised and featured on the German news giant, DW on Human Right News about Nigeria on October 2021 at the country’s 61st Independence Day news.[11]

Awolowo Album

Awolowo is one of Mayolee's albums that features afrobeats and folkloric sounds. The album was produced in 2022 and made up tracks like: 'Wish For', 'Breath', 'Dues' and 'Desire' The Guardian described Awolowo as a holistic body of work perfect for introspection, meditation and relaxation.[12]
