Career

During College he wrote for the campus newspaper.[9] Matthew spent time after college working as a journalist for The Atlantic. He also worked for The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.[10]

Background

Matthew studied Creative Writing at Harvard University.[9]

In doing research for his writing, he worked with OnPoint Tactical to undergo Escape, Kidnapping, and Evade Pursuers training.[11] He was hoping to learn firsthand what it would feel like to be chased.[11] During the training and simulation Matthew learned to "free ourselves from flexcuffs, rope, and duct-tape bindings, run counter-surveillance, and make fake IDs."[11]
