This is a list of car-free islands: islands inhabited by humans which have legally restricted or eliminated vehicle traffic from their territories.

United StatesMackinac Island in Michigan.[6] Cars were initially banned from streets in July 1898.[21] The use or possession of any motor vehicle is against the law, with very limited exceptions.[22] In rare cases, vehicles are permitted to be transported to and operated on the island.[23]
