Joe Mubare
Life
Joe Mubare studied psychology and political science in Munich and Los Angeles. He then began training as a family therapist and occasionally translated psychological textbooks. Thanks to his extensive musical training in his youth, during which time he also won a few composition competitions, he managed to find employment as a part-time composer for 20th Century Fox. There he wrote about 50 film and television compositions.
After his return to Germany in the early 1980s, Mubare concentrated on his music career and released his first album, Mubare, in 1984. His most successful album was 1986's No Man's Land. Despite critical acclaim, he found no great commercial success.
He began to focus again on film composition, and from 1989 onward, managed the record label YAYA with Mark Polscher. From 1990 to 2010, he was responsible for the soundtracks of over 80 film and television productions, including 14 episodes of Tatort.
