In 2021, Eva was named in Forbes' prestigious 30 Under 30 feature.[1][2]

Eva’s birth surname is Dolezalova, but In 2023, she took the maiden surname of her grandmother, Vik.

Early life

At the age of 10, Eva Vik[3] began acting in leading Czech films and theatrical productions, thanks to her grandmother who put her in a local casting call. Eva later became a regular actor in a Theatre Studio “V,” where she co-wrote plays that were frequently performed for many years, even after her departure from the theatre.

At 18, she moved to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but stayed only for one year after realizing that acting wasn't her calling. After RADA, she still participated in films with well-known directors such as Shane Black or Mike Figgis with whom she co-wrote and camera-operated a film Kudelksi.[4]

Eva then moved to Paris, where she began to form her own artistic voice in filmmaking and started pursuing writing and directing.

Career

In 2017, Eva Vik moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly completed her first short film, "Sound of Sun," starring Sean Penn and Suki Waterhouse, released by NOWNESS. The film met with critical acclaim within the industry and the audience. It was also screened at UCLA School of Theater, Film and TV for educational purposes.

Since then, Vik has directed several short films, including "Carte Blanche," starring Dylan Sprouse, Suki Waterhouse, and Jack Kilmer, for which she received an Audience Award at the Mammoth Film Festival in 2019 and a Breakout Director Award in Capri Hollywood Film Festival in 2020. Vik also earned the Best Director's Award in 2021 for "Maestro," starring Clara McGregor and Karel Dobry at Independent Shorts Awards USA and Jury Prize for Best Drama. "Maestro" was released by Amazon Prime Video and had a unique ending dedication, "In the memory of my living father." Vik calls this short film a "closure piece" in regards to her relationship with her father.

In 2022 Vik directed "Serpentine," a sci-fi body-horror short film about a covert snake cult breaking the genetic code to bring about a new snake-human interspecies. Bulgari was the Official Partner and Sponsor, and the filmed starred Barbara Palvin, Luke Brandon Field, and Soo Joo Park. "Serpentine" earned Vik a Tribeca Film Festival X Award nomination, film premiere, and won the Best Genre Short Film at Mammoth Film Festival. The film was later released by NOWNESS and was met with grand success and millions of views within the audience.

Vik's latest work includes "Raven" (2022), a poetic sci-fi, black and white short film about the relationship between extraterrestrial intelligence and humanity, which was released by VOGUE magazine in February 2023

Overall, Vik's work has premiered on Mubi, NOWNESS, Dazed, Amazon Prime Video, and VOGUE, and has been recognized with numerous film awards for her rapidly rising career. Vik has also directed commercials for Bulgari Omnia Perfume, starring actress Cailee Spaeny, coming out in the summer of 2023 and 2024, and several commercials for American luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples and Lancel Parisian Maison. Eva also frequently photographs for Condé Nast such as Vogue covers. Her latest include Barbara Palvin.

Furthermore, Centre Pompidou Foundation in Paris screened Eva's trilogy of Transformational Shorts: "Sound of Sun," "Somnio," and "Samice," all in the subject of metamorphosis into each own self and psyche, for which she was awarded by 7000 Art Company in France.

Vik is in the development of her first feature film with Wild Bunch Distribution and Vixens Films.

Vik is also an ambassador for the White Ribbon Campaign, a global movement working to end violence against women and children.
