Death of Lubunga Lumenge

On January 5, 2023, Lubanga Lumenge was found shot outside of his South Nashville apartment complex, the Residences at Stonebrook.[1][2][3][4][5]

Death

Lumenge was discovered in the grass near a parking lot by a passerby around 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5 at his apartment complex[6][7] along Hickory Trace Drive, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.[8][9][10][11] The victim was identified by officials, but the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.[12][13][14][15][16]

Biography

Lumenge was born on November 12, 1990 in Itombwe. He was originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but grew up in Tanzania after fleeing the First Congo War. He used to be a teacher in Tanzania. Later, he moved to Dallas, and started a job as a church pastor there.[17] He led the prayer team in worship.[18][19] He was survived by 7 kids.[20]
