Gigaset Phone Disassembly
Background and Information
Established on October 1, 2008, Gigaset AG is a multinational corporation in communications technology. The company was formerly Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices. Gigaset creates products for home and small office use. It has various types of phones including cordless phones, smartphones, VoIP phones, and corded phones.
For its cordless phones, Gigaset specializes in DECT (Digital enhanced cordless telecommunications) and Cat-iq (Cordless Advanced Technology-Internet and quality) technology. As a leader in the European market, Gigaset offers a range of wireless phones (900mhz, 2.4Ghz, and DECT). Its smartphones include the Gigaset GS160 and Gigaset GS270.
Gigaset phones that were recently released include support for Cat-iq 2.0 with HD Voice. This allows for high-quality calls with a frequency response up to 7 kHz on VoIP/SIP phones and home gateways, using the G.722 wideband audio codec (dubbed High Definition Sound Performance (HDSP) by Gigaset).
Gigaset uses power saving technologies including the Eco Dect and the Eco Dect Plus which allow for energy savings of 60-80%. This is accomplished using a combination of low-energy switched mode power supply unit (PSU), reduction of transmission power by adjusting transmission power according to the handset’s distance to the base station, and by turning off radio wave transmission completely when the handset is docked, charging, or in standby mode. Eco friendly products are denoted by a green home logo.
