Background Information

Founded in 1909, the Bugatti company is a German/French automotive manufacturer known for its high-performance vehicles. Some famous Bugatti Automobiles include the Type 35 Grand Prix cars, the Type 41 "Royale", the Type 57 "Atlantic", and the type 55 sports car.

After the death of the founder Ettore Bugatti in 1947, and his son Jean Bugatti in 1939, the company was left with no successor, resulting in the company struggling financially.

The company was eventually sold in 1963 for the airplane parts it produced, was bought in 1987, rebranded to Bugatti Automobili SpA, and was again rebranded to Bugatti Automobiles S.a.S after being bought out by the Volkswagen Group in 1998.
