Wookie

Physical Description

Wookies are a tall, furry species from the planet Kashyyyk, a planet full of forests with humongous trees. They are very robust, strong creatures that are very good at building things and melee attacks. They typically have brown, black, or gray fur, though in rare times, it can be white.

History

These creatures are very intelligent, but not many can understand them as they speak their own language, and not commonly Common or something like that. During the Clone Wars, they sided with the Galactic Republic, for the most part, since their king at the time was firmly in the Republic's corner. That was cemented when the Separatist Alliance attacked Kashyyyk in the end of the Clone Wars.

In the time of the Galactic Empire, the wookies were enslaved by the Empire because of their big, robust bodies are great for putting to work in certain things like mining. Some were bred for use in medical experimentation, construction, mining, or even for entertainment by imperial officers who hunted wookies for sport. To keep them in line, the Empire put inhibitor chips into the wookies that would cause them great pain if they tried to rebel or escape. During the time of the rebellion, wookies galaxy-wide joined the rebellion, the most famous being Chewbacca and Lohgarra, who stayed with the rebels, and then the New Republic, attempting to snuff out the Empire, like they tried to do with the Separatists so long ago.

Society

Wookies are very much like humans in their society and homes. They build large huts on huge, strong trees that, for reasons unknown, grow 40 times bigger than the redwoods on Earth. They have different roles, like hunter/gatherer, house builder, and architect, all to better their separate communities. They get together for holidays around bonfires. The greatest compliment you can get from a wookie is an offer to clean your hair, help you fix your clothes, because they want you to look nice. Loyalty and courage are among the most important things in wookie culture.
